I can seem a little tough at first, but that’s only because life has been tough on me too. I’ve learned to protect myself, and trusting people doesn’t come easily anymore.

Maybe if you took me home today, I wouldn’t immediately know how to relax or understand that I’m finally safe. I’ve seen people come and go before, so part of me still worries about being left behind again.
